Christy and Sadie are in the throws of new love and they are so fun and sexy together that I thought it would be fun to practice some "flow posing" with them this weekend. I had to post some of my faves, because they are so beautiful that I hope it makes every couple want to head down to my studio for a "love" session:
Andrew and Malisa came up from Boston for their E session with an extra family member--their dog Charley (a chocolate lab). We had so much fun incorporating Charley into the romantic portrait session and she (yes, Charley is a "she") even got to do a little window shopping afterwards. I can't wait for Andrew and Malissa's wedding on August 1 down in Manchester. They are so much fun and I can't wait to see what a beautiful bride Malissa will make!
Girls on the Run is a non profit program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. Last Sunday, thousands of young girls participated in the annual 5K fun run/walk at the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds. The event, sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont, included face painting, hair acessories by Goody, warm up activities, medals for all girls at the finish line and music. It was really amazing to see the exspressions on these girls' faces as they finished the race line and received their medals. I loved being there and photographing the day for BCBSVT.

One of the things I loved about the event was how much diversity there was in the kids who participated. So cool!

I loved watching all the parents and coaches celebrate with their kids as they finished the race together. They were all so proud.

Last week, I had scheduled an E session with Alice and Hunter, who's wedding I'll be photographing in September. It was a wet and gloomy weekend and we were all set to do the portrait session in my studio. But, after a few minutes inside, we saw that the rain stopped, the sky brightened and so we took ourselves outside for some play time along the train tracks. Inside or out, this couple just lit up my camera and after seeing how they photograph, I can't wait for the wedding!
The RU12 Queer Community dinner and auction took on a western theme this year, held last Saturday night at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center. About 200 attended the annual event and a Rootin' Tootin' good time was had by all. Vt. Freedom To Marry's Beth Robinson was recognized as the Queer Volunteer of the Year and comedy was provided by Comedy Central comic Sabrina Matthews.

This coming October, I'll be photographing Lona and Sarah's wedding at the Inn at Essex. When they first came to me, they were planning for their Civil Union, but with the Freedom to Marry law going into effect on September 1, they get to now plan their W-E-D-D-I-N-G!!! YAY!!! We recently met again for their E session and it was a great time for all of us!
Beth and Scott were married on May 23, 2009 at the Mount Mansfield Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Jericho. The reception was held at Mills Riverside Park, under a Vermont Tent, with a stunning view of Mt. Mansfield. It was such a fabulous day and I just love Scott and Beth so much. They have become really good friends of mine over this past year-- I was thrilled to be a part of their wedding day!
And the awesome vendors for this event: Catering by Let's Pretend (Barb Bardin, chief fantasy officer!), music by Vermont Jazz Ensemble, Violin soloists: Peter "Professor Fairbanks" Miller and Sam Lewis, Flowers by A Schoolhouse Garden (Nancy Murray, designer).

This past Saturday, Magic Hat brewery held it's grand RE opening, after doing some major refurbishing at it's South Burlington headquarters. Even in the rain, beer lovers turned out to sample the brew, listen to live music and watch the Amazing "Philomena" (from the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus in NY) walk across 57 feet of broken glass to perform the ribbon cutting ceremony:

Keith Nelson (aka Mr. Pennygaff from the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus in NY) swallows the ribbon-cutting scissors before bringing it back to the surface for Philomena to use in Saturday's ceremony. It hurt just to watch him do that!
What kind of mother would I be if I didnt blog about my son David's Spring wind ensemble concert-- And it was amazing! Their teacher, David Myers , has molded these 6th, 7th and 8th graders into a fine group of musicians and they totally outdid themselves last Thursday night when they played to a packed gymnasium of parents and friends at Shelburne Community School.
I don't know who I love more--Josh or Baby Amelia! What a beautiful family... Amelia wasnt in a real smiling mood because she had just recently learned how to make raspberry sounds with her lips and that was far more interesting to her than posing for me. Still, we had a good time and Amelia (and Josh) shined in their first official portrait session!
Last week, I met with Jesse and Lynne, who's wedding I am photographing in July. After getting to know one another a little, we head over to Oakledge Park to shoot their engagement portrait session. Talk about chemistry! Jesse and Lynne are so darn cute together, I can already tell that their's will be one of the best weddings of the summer.
What's a photo studio open house without some fun photos to show after the fact. Here are some of the best of the "photo booth" pics from the party. About 150 people came by to say hello to Jeff and me and see our work..It was a lot of fun, good food and drink, and lots of laughter. AND the winner of the free family portrait sitting: Jackie Dragon. I will look forward to posting photos from her family's photo session sometime soon!
Last Friday, I had the pleasure of photographing a great family out at Oakledge Park--Carrie and Michael Premsager and their 2 beautiful kids. We had a fun afternoon climbing around the rocks down at the lakefront and the light was just perfect. Carrie is scheduled for a very aggresive cancer surgery in Washington D.C. next week and then she'll be recovering in the hospital for 21 days. Carrie has a cancer called Pseudomyxoma Peritonei. Carrie is an amazingly brave and beautiful woman. She and her family are daily in my prayers.
About 200 Vermont kids, both Queer and straight, ages 15-22, got their groove on at Contois Auditorium for the annual Queer Prom Saturday night, hosted by OUTRIGHT VERMONT. The night culminated in a "Walk Off" where kis strutted their stuff down the runway. Ultimately, the panel of judges awarded 5 people feather boas and the honor of making up the "COURT" for the evening.
About 100 kids from across the state gathered at Rutland Middle School Saturday for the annual OUTRIGHT VERMONT Gay/Straight alliance conference and Youth Pride March to Rutland City Hall. Both Queer high schoolers and their straight allies joined for a day of learning and sharing and then took to the streets of Rutland, chanting "We're Here, We're Great. We may be Gay, we may be straight!"
